This very pretty, former gardener’s cottage is packed full of character with its low doorways and cosy open fire. It sits within its own private garden amongst the superb setting of Gunby Hall and Gardens.

When the public have all gone home, guests of the cottage are free to enjoy the eight acres of grounds at Gunby Hall and follow the many paths across the surrounding parkland. The gardens offer traditional English flowers, a wonderful rose garden, and extensive vegetable gardens which allow for plenty of exploring.

As the cottage lies between the Lincolnshire Wolds and the bracing coastline, it is ideal for the keen walker or cyclist who wants to explore the local area, including the many National Trust properties, picturesque local villages such as Gunby, and the market towns of Spilsby and Horncastle. The historic city of Lincoln is also just under an hour away, and offers a day full of culture and shopping.

The National Trust has events and activities in Lincolnshire to appeal to all ages throughout the year. Visit the web pages by clicking on the nearby tab, above, to see details of events, nature, walking and cycling trails when planning your holiday.

Lincolnshire is one of England's largest, yet least known counties, with an attractive and varied landscape ranging from the flat lands of the Wash to the rolling wolds, pretty villages and soaring church spires of the north. This is perfect cycling country, while a range of bustling or more peaceful seaside resorts offer something for all tastes! The county has three main National Trust properties: Belton House is a perfect 17th-century country house with stunning gardens and magnificent interiors, plus a big adventure playground, miniature railway and Discovery Centre for children. Woolsthorpe Manor, a typical yeoman's farmhouse, is the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton, while Tattershall Castle is a six-floor tower with great views over the countryside. Lincoln is 'a city in the countryside' which offers visitors the chance to soak up thousands of years of history and to enjoy the attractions of modern living. From the crowning glory of its stunning gothic cathedral, winding cobbled streets lead past some of the oldest surviving medieval architecture in the country to a vibrant shopping and cultural quarter.'The Collection' is an award-winning museum of art and archaeology, while outstanding fine art is displayed nearby in the Usher Gallery. Brayford Waterfront has independent shops, lively cafes and bars, and relaxing boat trips on the oldest Roman canal in the country.
