Newark Park It is a house with two fronts – an east facing Tudor front built in the 1550s and a south facing Georgian Gothic façade built in the 1790s. The original hunting lodge was remodelled by James Wyatt when it came to the Reverend Lewis Clutterbuck, and at the same time a new deer park was created in the farmland surrounding the house. A carriage drive was created from Ozleworth Bottom, giving visitors tantalising glimpses of the house as they travelled up through the woodland in the valley. The Clutterbuck Apartment and Lower Lodge are ideally situated for walkers with plenty of footpaths and bridle ways and the Cotswold Way is on the doorstep. Other National Trust properties like Dyrham Park, Lodge Park, Woodchester Park, Prior Park Landscape Garden and Westbury Court Garden are all nearby. The cities of Bath, Bristol, Gloucester and Cheltenham are all less than an hour’s drive. Badminton and Gatcombe Horse Trials are just up the road.
