| | | Charlecote Park Charlecote was the home of the Lucy family for over 700 years and, with its mellow brickwork and great chimneys, embodying the essence of Tudor England. There are strong associations with both Queen Elizabeth I and William Shakespeare, who it is alleged was caught poaching deer in the park. The rich early Victorian interior contains some important objects from Beckford’s Fonthill Abbey. The Gatehouse is a particular feature of Charlecote and stands in front of the house with fine views over the deer park landscaped by ‘Capability Brown’. Holiday Cottage guests have free access to Charlecote Park grounds and gardens out of hours.
