Visitors' Book - North Wing

Hanbury Hall   Droitwich   Worcestershire

Message:

We came back to Hanbury Hall for our second stay this year in the North Wing Flat. This time we were showing our 1934 caravan at the Classic Motor Show at the NEC in Birmingham and after long days at the show, it was good to get back to the peacefulness of the flat. The clock on top of Hanbury Hall chimed each hour, which we didn't recollect from our last visit in January and which took a bit of getting used to, particularly during the early hours. Don't let this put you off though; the North Wing Flat is a lovely place to stay, with some magnificent views, especially when the sun is coming up in the morning.

We stayed here at the end of January 2009, initially for two nights, but we liked the flat so much that we called the National Trust office late on Saturday afternoon to book an extra night.

The photographs on the website and in the NT holiday cottage brochure really do not do this flat justice. It feels quite grand, is extremely spacious and characterfully furnished, and has views over the surrounding parkland, both in front and to the rear of Hanbury Hall.

The gardens were open over the weekend we stayed, and being able to wander down to the tea room for a delicious lunch, followed by coffee and cakes was an added treat.

The flat comes with our firm recommendation.

We also booked the flat at the last minute - at ten to five the day before. The staff member who took our booking was extremely helpful in contacting Hanbury Hall to check that the flat would be available at such short notice and in calling us back to confirm arrangements. Many thanks.

A wonderful, peaceful place. Don't be put off too much by the stairs; they're not steep, it's just there are 49 of them!
Highly recommended.
