We are veterans of BIRD how ,have been visiting for about 40 years, and love it. There was once a hole in the bunk room floor, through my kids enjoyed watching those in loo below! Not any more, tho the open fire and peace remain unspoiled. We will be back again this year.

We got back from Bird How recently and just wanted to say what a lovely time we had at the cottage. It really is a gem in the National Trust's collection. It is perfect for those who really want to get away from it all. It's so peaceful. Great views all around. But, still easy to get to. Don't be put off by the chemical loo in the shippon; it's really very comfortable and easy to empty. Don't be put off by the lack of a shower room / bathroom either. Getting a decent wash / shower is possible if you use a bit of imagination. We will return again in the future. Highly recommended. [July 2008]

Wonderful place, kept in original condition by the Trust. Don't expect lots of mod. cons. here; modernisation would ruin this cottage. Walking from cottage excellent and two decent pubs with real ale just down road.
