Visitors' Book - St Oswald's Cottage

Holy Island Berwick-upon-Tweed   Northumberland

From:

Message:

St Oswald's was lovely in late summer: warm, comfy cottage, lots of space, beautifully presented and spick-and-span. Great fun in the evenings to light the log-burner, open a couple of bottles and play Cluedo into the wee small hours. Or get up early to look out of the sitting room window to see the sun rise behind the castle and watch the light spill across the castle field towards the cottage: worth the bleary eyes! It made such an inviting place to come home to after a day exploring Cragside, Dunstanbrough or the wild, sandy, empty beaches on the north of Holy Island.

St Oswald's is an absolute jem of a cottage. My wife and I stayed here early March 2010 and throughly enjoyed our time at this wonderful cottage.

The cottage is in such a tranquil setting and at night time it was so quiet, great!!

The cottage is very well equipped and the beds are huge, very comfortable as well.We will certainly miss the view of Lindisfarne Castle from the lounge window, what an outlook!

The village of Holy Island is so very charming with its narrow lanes and picture postage card houses and cottages.

We frequented the Ship Inn during our stay and highly recommend their food and beer, the Holy Island Blessed Bitter being rather agreeable!
