| | | | Visitors' Book - Heath End LodgeCalke Abbey Ticknall Derbyshire | From: | Frances Pallett | | Message: | We have just enjoyed a November weekend break at Heath End Lodge with our seventeen month-old son and despite the chaos a small child brings we found this the perfect retreat. The silence was broken only by the sound of 'the hunt' going past and the crackle of the open fire. The Calke estate provided wonderful walks, plenty of wildlife and many a photo opportunity. A well equipped cottage which we couldn't fault in any way and we will definitely be back. |
From: | Rob Weir | | Message: | We stopped at Heath End late in 2003 and found it wonderful - quiet, well thought out, and although seeming to be out in the country it's fairly close to both Ashby de-la-Zouch and (smaller) Melbourne. It is a bit of a drive to get into the Peaks themselves, but the cottage itself can hardly be faulted for that! Though we never did find the Pub that's supposed to be close by..... |
From: | Denise Walton | | Message: | We stayed at the lodge this weekend just past and as a property found it enchanting. It's location was excellent, just over 2 hours drive from London and within 1 hours drive into the Peak District and so peaceful. The property was immaculate and in excellent order. We were delighted that on our arrival tea, coffee, biscuits and a pint of milk had been left for us. It was a pleasure to stay in the lodge, build a fire, cook some delicious food and enjoy the surroundings. |
