We were slightly nervous about picking this destination this spring as we expected it might be a bit gloomy. It turned out to be a wonderful experience. The flat itself was quaint decorated in the Rennie Mackintosh style. But the abbey was a treat - it was wonderful to sit on the abbey grounds in the warm sunshine with a picnic basket. Even better to explore it in the evening - what an enchanted setting! National Trust outdid itself.

This is a wonderful place to stay, so relaxing and the apartment is beautifully decorated and has everything you need. You have to take a walk round the abbey when everyone else has left (although you are not supposed to), it is so peaceful.

We've had two mini breaks at Proctor in the last 12 months it's a fab place I don't just want to keep coming back I want to live there all the time. Everything is gorgeous I can't praise it highly enough. We're coming back with our family in Nov (2008) so staying at Abbey Store as it's larger. Fountains is the best place on earth.
