 Fountains Hall

Yorkshire
Yorkshire is, not surprisingly, England's most popular holiday destination, as this vast county offers something for everyone. The beautiful countryside of the Dales and Moors, a dramatic and unspoilt coastline, a wealth of historic towns and cities, spectacular ancient ruins, and some of the most magnificent houses in the country. The National Trust owns over 24,000 acres of coast and countryside across the county as well as some splendid historic properties. These include Beningbrough Hall, East Riddlesden Hall, Nunnington Hall and the spectacular Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal.

The Dales
The Yorkshire Dales are among the most beautiful and varied landscapes in England. The valleys, with sheltered meadows, have provided a home and way of life for generations of farmers and a place where peace and fresh air can be enjoyed, surrounded by dramatic scenery. The area is criss-crossed by dry stone walls and the fields dotted with traditional field barns, both so typical of the Dales. There are magnificent woodlands and waterfalls, limestone pavements and open moorlands – all in all a wonderful place for walkers. The numerous Dales towns and villages provide local character with shops and refreshments, with many retaining traditional market days. Free admission to National Trust events and guided walks (booking in advance).
