 Tennyson Down and Freshwater Cliffs

Isle of Wight
A 30 minute ferry trip will take you to this magical holiday destination - the Isle of Wight with its wonderful rolling countryside, sandy beaches, picturesque villages and splendid views. The National Trust owns nearly 4,000 acres of countryside and 17 miles of rugged coastline: a little time spent discovering Southern England’s secret will be time well spent. Well worth a visit are the spectacularly sited Needles Old Battery set high on the western tip of the island, Bembridge Windmill, built around 1700 and the only one surviving on the island and glorious Mottistone Manor Garden.

Compton Bay
Compton Bay is a sandy beach located beside the coast road between Freshwater Bay and Brook. This area is a favourite for surfers, fossil hunters and at low tide dinosaur foot prints can be seen imprinted in the rocks. Our two new cottages are situated within a short distance from the sea and with easy access to nearby National Trust properties The Needles and Mottistone Manor Garden.

National Trust places nearby: Mottistone Manor Garden, Mottistone Down and Common, Tennyson down, Needles Old and New Batteries, Newtown Old Hall. Shop and pub: Freshwater and Newport 2 miles, Yarmouth 3 miles. Tea-room/café/restaurant: Freshwater and Newport 2 miles, Yarmouth 3 miles. Beach: Compton Bay within walking distance. Other attractions: The Needles Park, Isle of Wight Pearl, Fort Victoria Country Park. Activities: walking, fishing, horse riding, water sports, fossil hunting, cycling.
