| Message: | We have just got back: the cottage is nicer than the external picture suggests. It is a small and neat two-up (bedroom and bathroom) two-down (kitchen and parlour) with a bigger garden room stretching across the back. The furniture is nicely old, and the fabrics and decoration are smart. The Canyack is on a rocky knoll, sheltered by maritime pines, with views down the valley and glimpses of the sea. There are no other cottages very close, and is not overlooked, but it is only a short walk into St Just, which is a nice village, and the coast walks are simply wonderful. Every night, badgers come right up to the garden windows (if you put out some unroasted peanuts) and they don't mind if you sit really close to the windows to watch them. We were also visited by a young fox, and birds crowd around the feeder. The whole area (not just St Ives) has many galleries (commercial and public) as well as potteries and museums, so any rain makes for a good excuse to go visiting. We have already booked for 2010! |
