 Countisbury Hill, Lynmouth

North Devon
North Devon – with its outstanding coast, glorious moorland, plunging wooded valleys and remote, unchanging rural landscapes inland - has so much to offer the visitor, no matter what type of holiday you are looking for. On the coast you will find miles of sandy beaches at places like Woolacombe and Croyde, and some of the finest surf in Britain (whether you’re a beginner or a pro), interspersed by long and lonely stretches of dramatic soaring cliffs and rugged headlands, with the South West Coast Path running all the way along the coast, guaranteeing some exhilarating walking . The beautiful wooded valleys and winding rivers of Exmoor National Park add a softer touch to the landscape around the fringes of the high bare moorland, whilst the lively coastal towns in the area – Lynton, Ilfracombe, Barnstaple and Bideford - bring a bit of seaside sparkle. Inland, there are historic market towns and hidden villages in the lovely unspoilt valleys of the Taw and the Torridge.

 Parracombe

Parracombe & Combe Martin
The village of Parracombe lies just a few miles south of Lynton and Lynmouth just inside the borders of the Exmoor National Park. Its population of less than 400 people supports a school, a shop, a castle, two churches and a pub. The river Heddon runs through the village and passing through the picturesque Heddon Valley flows into the Bristol Channel. In the valley there are glorious walks in an undulating area of flower-filled meadows and rivers criss-crossed by bridges and stepping stones. Combe Martin, a village just to the west of Parracombe, is a small resort in a sheltered valley set amongst some of the most outstanding coastal scenery in the area. There are spectacular views over the bay to dramatic headlands beyond and a peaceful harbour that has changed little over time. From here there is great access to the wonderful north Devon coast and its coastal paths, harbours and popular surfing beaches. Two of the best of these beaches are just down the coast to the west at Woolacombe and at Croyde whilst Ilfracombe is a popular and attractive small coastal town all year round.
