When the National Trust bought St Anthony Head in 1959, some of the more unsightly military installations were removed, but it kept the substantial stone-built officers' quarters, in a spectacular position on top of the headland with far-reaching views, and converted them into holiday accommodation. Two of these cottages (the Captain's Quarters and the Major's Quarters) have been adapted for an accompanied wheelchair user. The cottages share a front lawned area and a communal garden at the rear. The villages of Gerrans and Portscatho, and the summer ferry to St Mawes from Place, are not far away, but with views like these, you may never want to leave.
