2 High Street is an attractive cottage at the heart of the village located next door to the Red Lion pub with its excellent food and welcoming open fires. This timbered cruck-framed 15th-century house has interesting 16th, 18th and 19th century additions and features. In the 19th-century it was a coffee tavern and more recently occupied by a family who were stationers and later ran the post office in part of the building. The cottage has also featured in popular costume drama Cranford and was used by the stars to relax in between scenes.
